Back south...Day 25 Part 1

After leaving cousin Bill yesterday we travelled south through heavy smoke to Quesnel where we stayed the night at a lovely campground on Dragon Lake. It so reminded me of Southern Ontario cottage country. Kids canoing off the docks, cottages ringing a placid lake. Very nostalgic for me. We woke this morning to more heavy smoke.
Off south we went, all day with nose, eyes and throat complaining. We thought the heavy smoke was from the fire just outside Quesnel, but as we went south it got heavier and heavier and we assumed it was now smoke from the fire in the Okanogan we were experiencing. It was a relief in the mid-afternoon when we finally hit the access road to Lillooet...

The road to Lillooet comes in along the Fraser Canyon, about 1,000 feet above the river which roars through the narrow passes. It is one of my most favourite dramatic spots.

After an hour we made it back to Lillooet(below). The other photos that follow are of the Fraser Canyon itself.
