Below is the beach entrance at Manzanita, the main town built into the base of Neahkanie Mountain.

We drove south to investigate the area where the Nehalem River flows through the Nehalem Valley to the Pacific Ocean. It is prime dairy land with mild weather and lots of rain for rich grass. It was originally settled by Swiss immigrants.
Below is the Nehalem River at Nehalem Village. That's the coastal range behind the village.

We went further down the River to the village of Wheeler, which hasn't really changed much in the past 50 years.

Back at the campsite, Flossie and I do our daily constitutional on the beach.

Tomorrow we head south again, through these villages and on to the town of Florence on the central coast. The weather has held here, with a bit of overcast but no rain. Inland they have had a funnel cloud (tornado) in Portland and violent rain. We are lucky to have missed that.
xxx to all.
